Tea Kissel

A very nice combination of flavors. Both children and adults will enjoy it.


  • 5 teaspoons of black tea
  • 3 clove buds
  • A small cinnamon stick
  • 6-8 teaspoons of cornstarch
  • 5 teaspoons of honey
  • 0,5 litres freshly squeezed juice from fruits or berries
  • 1 litre clean water

For this beverage it is best to use the «Susan» OPA tea variety with its tart taste and soft aroma.

Combine the dry tea, cloves and cinnamon in a heat resistant vessel and add hot water – leave to brew for 15 minutes. After it is brewed, pour the liquid through a sieve to remove the tea and spices and stop the infusion process.

Add cooled boiled water to the cornstarch until the mixture is of a smooth consistency with no lumps and slides easily off a spoon.

Set the liquid on low heat on the stove and gradually pour in the cornstarch mixture while stirring slowly. After combining, take the vessel off the heat and quickly stir while the mixture thickens to become a Kissel.

Add juice to the Kissel. The beverage can be consumed immediately while warm or after chilling.
